Battabox sensations, Harry and James, the hosts of web series “Two Angry Men,” ripped Nigerian actors a new hole for attempting to dabble in the world of music, often with terrible, discordant results.
From Genevieve Nnaji, who the comedic pair blamed for starting the trend with her 2004 debut album “One Logologo Line”, the actress’ first and last attempt at music, to the latest culprit Tonto Dikeh, no actor/actress who made the attempt was exempt from the scathing review.
A lot of it was said in jest, sure, but Harry and James shared a lot of truth in their rant.
“These actors should be tried and prosecuted for abusing the public’s sensibilities!” the Two Angry Men said.
They had a lot to say about Tonto Dikeh, a mediocre actress at best whose attempt at a music career gave us “It’s Ova” and “Hi” – perhaps some of the worst musical offerings from a Nollywood celebrity.
Perhaps it is the bright lights of fame that blinds many celebrities who really believe they can make the transition. While many have tried, only few have truly succeeded.
Stella Damasus has done a decent job of merging her on-screen and on-air careers… she can actually hold a key.
Much as we despise the music of the lovely Tonto Dikeh, she enjoyed some success from what we hope is her short music career. The actress’ music, and we use that word tentatively, was downloaded some six million times, all thanks to the “mumurism” of fans as James and Harry put it.
Others like Ramsey Nouah, who featured on SirKay’s “Na Wetin,” did not fair as well.
Below, we have compiled some of the worst music attempts from Nollywood for your listening “pleasure.” Enjoy!
“Na Wetin”
Sir Kay featuring Ramsey Nouah, Segun Arinze
It is so horrid, we’d be surprised if you sit through the entire video.
“Feel Alright”
Omotola Jalade Ekeinde
Wow! She has come a long way hasn’t she? The video is cringe-worthy, but if you listen to the music enough times, it stays with you. Not horrid… not great either, but not that bad.
“No More”
Genevieve Nnaji
The lyrics are kinda awful… but Nollywood’s leading lady first single isn’t the worst we have heard or seen. Seriously… even the video is bearable and we give her kudos for rocking an all girl band in the video. Girl power!
“It’s Ova”
Tonto Dikeh feat. Snypa
And here it is! The music video for Tonto Dikeh’s horrid music offering “It’s Ova” You have to applaud her tenacity, her insistence on plaguing us with bad, auto-tuned music.
